Artist Christy Chen’s Featured Artist show entitled “NO REGRETS” will be exhibiting at The Society of Bluffton Artists Gallery June 6th-July 3rd, 2022.

I grew up in an artistic family. My father was an artist and my two older sisters as well. Art was always being created in our home. Drawing, painting, and even sewing. It just seemed very natural to us. When I got older, I realized that this is not the case in all households and how lucky we were to be able to create freely and watch as masterpieces were being created by our father. He was a man of few words but his paintings spoke volumes.

When my father passed away from cancer at age 44, I was just a teenager in high school. However, his legacy lives on through my sisters and our children.  Even though they never got the chance to meet him, I can see echoes of him in my children and in their artwork.

Life is short and fragile. We forget that life is fleeting. It gives me a bit of comfort to know that the art we create will be here long after we are gone, just like my father’s paintings. I have recently turned the age my father will never be. 45 is a time to paint freely and reflect on my life and I can say to this point, I have no regrets.

Background Information:

I have been painting or creating different types of artwork professionally for almost 30 years. My father was an artist and art runs in our family. I am always creating and love to experiment with new techniques. I love to paint on a large scale but also on a tiny scale. .

In my younger art days, I sold many paintings online and in art galleries. I have sold paintings to all 50 states, as well as Canada, Mexico, and have a few in Paris, France.

We have lived in Bluffton, SC for almost 8 years now, raising a creative family here in this beautiful location. It is a wonderful place to be an artist.

My art portfolio consists of an assortment of fluid art Abstracts, landscapes, and seascape paintings. Acrylic is my preferred medium. I love to bring life to boring walls and to stir sleeping souls.
