An opening reception will take place from 3-5 p.m. January 8 at the gallery. These events are free and open to the public.

Natter’s photographic journey began 15 years ago with a simple desire to capture the beauty of everyday objects. Her passion has evolved over the years and culminates in the Conceptual Photography exhibit.

Conceptual photography is a derivative of the Conceptual Art movement, which began in the 1960s and 1970s. This movement utilizes photography to express  artists’ ideas and strong emotions.

“As I set up to take a photograph, I carefully reflect upon how I am feeling and which particular emotions an image or scene evokes within me,” Natter said. “This empowers me to cull a specific emotion or idea into a viewer’s mind. The images in this exhibit represent conceptual photography work that resonates strongly with me. As you view my photos, I encourage you to notice and reflect upon the emotions and ideas that come to your mind.”

Natter is an expert photographer and an active board member of the Camera Club of Hilton Head. Her work has been featured by the SOBA Gallery, the Art League of Hilton Head Island, Savannah Wildlife Refuge, and Coastal Discovery Museum.
