It’s November at SoBA!
A sense of celebration is in the air so let’s be thankful, be kind, be gracious, and let’s greet each other with a smile. Enjoy the change of season, the different colors, as the days become shorter and maybe cooler. Enjoy making your art and sharing it. Enjoy being challenged.
All the best to you,
Gayle Miller, SoBA President

Elizabeth Slater is the November Featured Artist
Elizabeth Slater is the November featured artist at the Society of Bluffton Artists (SoBA) gallery. “Lowcountry Elements: A Natural Study” will be an exhibit of pencil, watercolor and acrylic adaptations of the coastal elements beloved to the Lowcountry. The show is scheduled from November 13th – December 10th. An opening reception is slated for 3 – 5 p.m. Sunday, November 19th at the gallery in Old Town Bluffton.
Slater has always called the South Georgia coast her home. Native to Savannah, her fondest memories include beach days on Tybee Island, crabbing from the family dock on the Grove River, enjoying oyster roasts with family and friends and meandering Calhoun Street in Bluffton with her dad on Saturdays.
Slater’s artistic venture, Meyer Slater, is in part named after her maternal grandmother, Rebecca Felton Meyer, who taught Slater the love of the coast.
“It is my goal to bring a piece of coastal nature inside everyone’s home through works of art — in homage to my grandmother and all that she was to so many,” Slater said.
