Graphic designer and artist by trade and entrepreneur by day, Andrea Smith resides in Bluffton, South Carolina with her husband and two rescue pups. Covering a wide range of artistic endeavors through formal training, Andrea started painting at the age of five and always knew she would pursue a career as a creative professional.
Her current abstract work in acrylics and mixed media is influenced by a history and practice of drawing, photography, sculpture, metalwork, and various painting mediums including watercolors, oils, and acrylics. Having studied with various professors and artists during her training throughout childhood and over the course of her collegiate degree from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, Andrea took the opportunity to do foundational work in all mediums, but found the most joy in her work outside the classroom with abstracts. Her work pulls from deep emotion, a love of texture and pattern, and great admiration for some of the abstract pioneers including Krasner, Pollock, and Basquiat.
With a BFA in Visual Communication and over ten years of professional design and marketing experience, Andrea is an award-winning creative professional, recognized for strengths in strategic thinking, tactical planning, and design thought leadership. She currently works as an independent graphic design and marketing professional, and is the creative director and owner of the product line 7th & Palm.
