Society of Bluffton Artists (SOBA) June Workshop Schedule

SOBA’s workshops offer the opportunity to learn a variety of art skills as taught by some of the region’s leading artists, and will provide attendees the opportunity to nurture, and foster, their love of art. Each workshop will be held at the SOBA Center for Creative Arts, located next door to the SOBA Gallery at 8 Church Street in Bluffton. All SOBA
workshops are led by established artists, and include instruction and hands-on demonstrations.

Following are the June workshops for adults at SOBA:

Acrylic Basics and Techniques in Landscape
June 3, 4, 5; 10 am – 1 pm
People’s Choice award winner from SOBA’s 2015 Annual Judged Show, Dennis Lake,
will teach this class, familiarizing students with acrylic paints and techniques with an
accent on realism. Both beginners and accomplished painters will enjoy the freedom to
experiment and discover the beauty of this medium with instructor demos, guidance and
critique. Cost: $90/members; $105/non-members

Intro to Facebook and Marketing Your Art
June 23; 9 am – 12 noon
Basic class for those who don not have a facebook page, taught by Sarah Leigh Brich.
Cost: $30/members; $45/non-members

Understanding Your Digital Camera
June 24; 9 am – 12 noon
Photographer Corky Burt will share practical knowledge about the operation of digital
cameras and how to select the best setting for the situation that is being photographed.
Cost: $30/members; $45/non-members

Seven Keys to Successful Painting
June 30; 9:30 am – 4 pm
Accomplished artist and instructor at the university level, Jim Lewis, leads this workshop
that looks at the principles that make paintings work. Explore and discover your own
approach and attitude within these guidelines and learn how to avoid common failures
and become a more confident painter. Cost: $60/members; $75/non-members
