Instructor Art Cornell
Class held 9 am – 12 noon on the following Fridays: September 4, 11, 18, 25
This class will be for artists who want to approach and/or refine their skills in developing abstract art work. Subjects discussed will include minimalism, drip, impressionism, and other abstract forms. Composition, texture, points of focus, will be covered, as well as, when a painting is finished, presentation, framing, pricing, signage, title, and responsibility as an artist. We will be using primarily heavy acrylic paint, however, other types of paint (water color, oil, liquid acrylic, etc.) are acceptable. It will be important to bring in works that the artists have in progress regardless of degree of completion to be critiqued, as
well as examples of art work one may have seen and/or would like to emulate. It may be intense at times (but fun) in order to arrive at a conclusion. All levels however basic knowledge of painting necessary.
MATERIALS LIST: Students should bring paint/colors they are familiar with, stretch canvas/board/or water color paper (the heavier the better), different size brushes, small straight edge tool like a putty knife or similar item from Wal-Mart, roll of regular paper towels, small plastic container to hold water, masking paint tape, light/medium sandpaper, latex gloves, small foam paint roller, small sponges.
