It is French term, meaning “trick the eye”, (pronounced tromp loy) and is a time honored skill that has goes back in history. It’s a bit challenging, but fun to create. Make a “window” or “niche in the wall” or a “door” with perspective and shadow effects that will please you or any viewer of your work. Taught by Mary Ann Browning Ford, well-known muralist and trompe l’oeil artist for over twenty years.
