This set of classes is a refreshment of painting theories and techniques which are necessary components of any painted piece. Classes will include a lecture on the topic of the week, painting time to practice the topics discussed, and class discussion.
First Class: mixing “noncolors” (greys, blacks, browns, and whites).
Second Class: hard and soft edges; shading to give objects shape and appear three dimensional; reflections and shadows.
Third Class: using lights and darks; warm and cool colors and value changes to create moods, feelings, and atmospheres.
Fourth Class: Putting it all together: discussion, feedback, and problem solving on any topics of interest to the class participants.
