Display Guidelines
Paintings must be completely dry, not wet or tacky either on the surface or the edges of the piece.
One (1) piece of art is accepted for each change of show for all members unless otherwise changed by the SOBA Board or authorized by a special event.
There must be 3 months between exhibiting the same piece of wall art or 3-D.
Wall Art
All wall art is to be wired properly. NO SAW TOOTH HANGERS OR HOOKS.
All art must be professionally presented, clean and properly framed. No cracked or chipped frames. If your piece of wall art sells, you may replace it with a new piece in the exact location as the sold piece. If it doesn’t fit, please contact Pat Diemand and she will re-hang your piece.
Artists are not to move, rearrange art work or add additional art work.
ART WORK MUST BE ORIGINAL. NO COPIES OF OTHERS’ COPYRIGHTED WORKS ARE ACCEPTABLE. NO Giclees.
Reproductions are only accepted for Bin Art. Photos printed on metal do not have to be wired as long as, and if, they can be easily hung from our hanging system with the jagged edge holes on the back of the plate.
Frames
Framed art that is more than 12 lbs. will not be accepted. If in doubt, save yourself an extra trip and bring a backup piece.
Framed art that requires a protective cover and is LARGER THAN 18 X 24” must be glazed with plexiglass, not glass. All plexiglass glazed items m
Sizes
In order to hang on gallery walls the following size limits must be followed:
Maximum size is 36” x 40” (Standard size canvas with a 1” frame is acceptable).
Larger pieces will be accepted for large art events only.
MINIMUM SIZE IS 8” x 8”.
Gallery Wrapped Art
Depth of all gallery wrapped canvases must be 1-1/2” deep.
The top, bottom and sides of gallery wrapped canvases must be finished and painted to compliment the painting. Gallery wrapped pieces must be wired.
Bumpers may be included and placed on the back of the canvas.
Bin Art
Due to the increase in membership participation, a total of 3 pieces of bin art is permitted, either 1 in prints and 2 in original or vice versa or all 3 in one category.
Bin art changes 4 times a year and only on change of show day in JAN., APRIL, JULY, and OCT. However, you may replace a piece of bin art if it sells before the next bin art change.
Maximum size for bin art is 24” x 30”.
3-D artists and Jewelry artists are juried in. Stained glass is limited to windows only. Only 1 stained glass artist is accepted and must also be juried. He/she can exhibit up to 2 pieces a month. 3-D artists may display up to 5 pieces each month.
***WORK LEFT AT SOBA FOR MORE THAN 30 DAYS BECOMES THE SOLE PROPERTY OF THE GALLERY. IF AFTER MAKING CONTACT WITH THE OWNER, THE ART IS STILL NOT PICKED UP, IT WILL BE DISPOSED OF IN ANY MANNER DECIDED UPON BY SOBA. SOBA IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR

Bin & Card Art Guidelines
Reassure viewers that your art is crafted and created by a human with no AI (artificial intelligence) involved in the process. This can be printed out or added to your website or social media platforms.
Featured Artist Exhibit
Each month, SOBA gallery changes over to display new artwork from member artists. The honor of being Featured Artist is awarded by the Board to members who have indicated they are interested in being chosen, who have been a member for at least a year, who have consistently exhibited excellent work in the gallery and who have participated in events and projects to support SOBA’s work.
Applications are accepted during the month of June each year for the following calendar year. When the process is opened, details will be published in the SOBA newsletter and email blasts to our exhibiting members.
Artist members should contact Ginny Cassidy with any questions. Ginny will be responsible for coordinating the exhibit logistics with the artist. The artist will be responsible for adhering to the timeline provided, and planning and paying for their reception. SOBA will supply three bottles of wine for the reception. SOBA pays for advertising, videos and press releases. We welcome your interest.
